Description
Royston Arts Society’s annual autumn exhibition was coming up so I signed up one of my unframed pieces – Cry. Lo and behold, a few weeks before show time, Cry sold! Yay!!
But now I had a new problem – the Royston Arts Society was still expecting me to turn up with a painting called Cry. But I was in a happy place, how on earth could I create another “Cry”?
In the end I had to force myself to sit for about 10 minutes and just think of all the sad thoughts I could think. Strangely it was David Rudder’s “Chant of a Madman” lyrics that finally tipped me over the edge and truly put me in the mood for a sob-worthy painting.
Sadly, that song paints too true a picture of the land of my birth.
