The Worthams were a very very wealthy family in 18th century Hertfordshire. This is a tiny snapshot of their holdings.
Before Royston’s Manor House existed, the site was known in 1610 as Gatward’s Estate and it bordered the King’s hunting properties. Oooh!
Before 1897, Royston was one town in two counties!
